What to prepare before building a website
A website needs five things from you: a domain, a logo, photos, a few lines about the business, and contact details. You can start without all of them, but the more that’s ready, the faster it goes. The 7 days start when your materials arrive.
In order
- Pick a domain. Your business name as is works best, and shorter is better. The inquiry form checks availability on the spot
- Find your logo file. A transparent PNG or SVG is ideal
- Gather photos of the storefront, the interior, your main products or dishes, and you at work
- Write a few notes: when you started, what’s different, who runs it. Notes are enough
- List your menu or services with prices
- Confirm hours, address, phone and social links
- Collect links to the booking or ordering tools you use
What you don’t need
- Finished copy. Send notes and I’ll write it
- A professional shoot. Phone photos can be retouched
- Design ideas. One or two sites you like is plenty
Buy the domain in your own name
A domain is your address and an asset. Buy it with your own account and your own card, not through your builder’s account. That way the address stays yours if you ever switch providers. I’ll walk you through it when we talk.
Common questions
What if I can’t send everything at once?
Send what you have. Missing pieces get placeholders and are swapped in as they arrive. The schedule counts from the day the core materials land.
Do I need a Google Business Profile too?
If you have a physical location, yes. Map results come from the Business Profile, not the website. Matching the details on both makes each stronger.
